The silence keeps the nosey neighbors from knowing just how much you two are imbibing in this sequestered wilderness.

Not much of an imbider but my brother-in-law is quite the connoisseur. He liked the boxes for the convenience but got off them because of the volume. When a bottle is empty you’re done but a box is 3 or 4 bottles worth so it’s harder to keep witin one’s limit, especially if your limit is one.

J.J. must hide in the bushes around my house. I think he is referring to the g-d awful noise when I dump the wine bottles into the recycling bin. Try the Beringer White Merlot – it’s not a sweet. Cheers!!!

Simple fix for that. Change your limit to one box!

I’m a beer drinker. The bottles and cans really do add up….you realize that when you take them to the redemption center. I actually prefer using my growlers (half gallon bottles) and buying beer from the local brewery where they exchange my unsanitized growlers for theirs. Unfortunately for me, the local brewery is across the border in Canada and the border is still closed for non-essential traffic. I have tried to plead that beer is essential, but they won’t listen.

Cardboard or glass, we use them both, but when they’re empty, they go to recycle. The downside of the box is you have to discard the liner. The only thing that doesn’t recycle with the bottle is the cork, unless your wine choice has a screw on lid, which is also recyclable.

Also, try to dump several bottles in a garbage can. Expect glass breaking. Boxes don’t. Plus no required bottle returns or recycling them.

Box wine is actually pretty darned good. The bladder collapses as the wine is removed and prevents the wine from “breathing” too much. If you are having a large party it’s better than having a lot of bottles sitting around. Usually, if you offer too many choices, people will want something you don’t have. When your choices are red, white, or nothing, they make up their minds fairly quickly.

I’ve seen wine in cans now. And with all the new canned seltzers around and Covid shutdowns there is a shortage of aluminum So maybe the box is the way to go.

Should still be in the recycle bin. We can’t put recyclables in a bag.

I savor the first few glasses but after that it’s just plonk, so I suck it up and get through the first taste of the cheap stuff ‘till the alcohol kicks in, then it doesn’t matter.

I thought the best part was taking the bag out and sticking a straw in it to make a giant Caprisun.

OK, how solitary am I in my having a literal distaste for alcohol? I don’t like the taste of wine, beer or spirits. I must be what is called a social drinker, as I only drink because everyone else is, and yield to peer pressure.

Arlo is living in the past on this question. Even putting their several efficiencies aside some contain downright good wine.

Doesn’t one have to clean out and flatten the box and put it in for recycling? Not alcohol drinkers here and the boxes came out long after we stopped having friends (families do not drink either other than SIL/BIL when out in restaurant) in the house so have not bought any in decades.
