A lot of couple time lately.

3 days, No electricity. Have to get the chores caught up.

71? He must be tired of Janis wearing sweaters.

Have to appreciate modern (i.e. electric) conveniences. My wife always said the washing machine and dryer were the most important appliances. When the house was full we’d have six loads a day. She said the kids would check every morning to make sure the hampers were full.

Ahhh…“comfort laundry.”

We leave our a/c on at 74 during the day and 72 at night. We need sweaters in the house at night. Did I mention I live in Florida? LOL

That’s normal. People tend to confuse “normal” with “good”. Normal is statistically more likely. For them, assuming the normal thing is living with electrical power, that’s normal. In the middle of the Amazon forest, that would be abnormal. Now, is 71F normal? well… if you have the money to pay for it… :D

I live in a very rural area……most of northern Maine is rural. So, my wife and I are already very much isolated. I may go somewhere once a week; my wife maybe twice as she does the shopping. I don’t really mind it at all, but I can’t imagine how city dwellers are coping with all this.

I am deeply appreciative of all the technology that makes my life easier, safer, and healthier.

However, the one that I consider to be the biggest blessing in all of recorded history is the one that it seems most persons no longer have in mind: a system for clean, safe water and sewers.

I like a cool house anyway. 65 is nice and wear layers if needed.

And if it gets really cold again, go back to makin’ bacon!

I remember, when my wife was alive, the simple pleasure of doing everyday tasks together. Folding clean laundry and chatting about everyday things. It’s those little things that are the hallmarks of love between married couples. Now, folding laundry is just a thing which must be done; a bit of the simple happiness is gone.

My thermostat never goes above 65

When the muse has flown there’s always trivial filler.

I think Arlo is deeply philosophical here. We are mistaken when we feel our mindless devotion to the mundane is normal. This presentation is both enlightening and frightening to me. The artist has opened a crack in my reality, which makes me squirm inside.

My wife and I have a system that works very well for us. We both do laundry. She folds the clean laundry, and I put it away. Been doing it for years.

I remember waking up in the morning when I was a kid in Oregon with ice on the inside of my bedroom windows. The ice with sometimes a quarter inch thick.

“Normal” is good. Let’s hear it for electricity.
