Arlo must have the AC down to chill bump city for Janis to wear what looks like flannel pajamas. Down south she would be to the very minimum without the AC.
peopleofwalmart.com is still around apparently. For those living elsewhere, it describes more or less the reality of it all, although it’s been years since I’ve been to one. More depressing than amusing, really.
Myself, I like my local Walmart. It’s clean and well maintained. Also, the prices are a great help, considering that I am now on a fixed income.
On occasion, I will see someone who is dressed a little revealingly but never anything such as the supposedly-authentic photos of people of Walmart. The vast majority of shoppers are ordinary people who look like other ordinary people you can see in all fifty states.
By the way, I have seen high-income professional people in my local Walmart. And they are dressed like ordinary people, even though they are worth millions.
My Dad was part of a coffee group in a small Arkansas town in the 80s. About once a week, a guy wearing overalls and a beat up flannel shirt drove his beat up pickup, often with a dog or two in the back in to join them. He was checking up on his stores in the area, and his name was Sam Walton, so I if the folks at Walmart aren’t dressed in their Sunday best, they are just following the Walmart tradition.
Wear what is comfy to sleep in. Arlo, we have been seeing you a looong time sleeping sans shirt. That may not be pretty to see anymore because age comes upon us all, but if you are comfy…give Janis the same respect.
Before the pandemic I had a saying about our life “If we didn’t go to Walmart today, then it means we had to go Home Depot.”
Now we do have a selection of WMs here – and they are not like they are elsewhere in the country. I know this because when we are traveling our evenings are spent in – yes – the local Walmart there. We have 4 WMs varying in distance from a mile and a half from our house to four and a half miles from our house. They may be small stores here – but we have a lot of them and they all carry different items in their mix. One of them – the furthest away -is a Neighborhood Market which is only a supermarket and pharmacy with related items. The others are regular WMs. Some food items, though, are carried in the regular WMs and not in the NM – the regular ones only have maybe 6 or 7 short aisles of food at most. During the pandemic they finished converting a WM in the next county to a SuperWalmart – we went to see it as our eye glass store is in it – it is smaller than most regular WMs I have seen elsewhere when traveling. Once every few months we take our RV/converted van for a ride to keep the engine working – we go to the WM at the east end of the Island bigger than the SuperWM,but still a lot smaller than they are elsewhere – drive there, go to bathroom, quick look through and home again – about 45min/hour trip each way.
I spent most of my life too hot all the time. In mid winter I would go out in just a sweatshirt – had to be below freezing for me to want to wear a jacket – many discussions with husband. Then life “changed” and now I am cold all the time. (And everything in house is set up to keep me cool and him warm – such as my seat in kitchen and my side of bed are on the a/c side.)
It occurred to me that my tee shirts and jeans as they acquired small holes or rips or the tee shirts had stains were still perfectly good if not presentable to wear out. I use them for pjs. At bedtime I take off my jeans, tee shirt and socks and put on my sleep jeans, sleep tee shirt (did buy some long sleeve ones for winter) and my loose thick sleep socks.

IIRC they live in the southern US, close enough to the Gulf to be near alligator territory. That looks mighty warm for late July.

I always wanted to lay naked on a bear skin rug in front of a fireplace. Apparently, Cracker Barrel has a policy against that. Who knew?
