It sure is a problem. I’m reading The Lord of the Rings right now, plus a couple of biographies. There’s also this, from the AHD: peruse: tr.v. pe·rused, pe·rus·ing, pe·rus·es1. To read or examine, typically with great care.2. Usage Problem: To glance over; skim.
There’s something REALLY ODD in panels 3 & 4 involving Arlo’s weird hair arrangement and Janis’ pillow. In fact, even in the first two panels, it looks as if the “cover” to Arlo’s head is opened!

Especially when it’s midnight, you’re in your nightgown and you don’t have to go to the bookstore.

And your husband’s libido is torpedoed! Look under the heading “Bodice Ripper” Janis.

I like the drop of water coming off from Arlo’s lips

Hundreds? Between Kindle on my iPad and ebooks from a library and Overdrive for my Kobo we’re talking way more available titles.

Is it just my eyes, or is Arlo missing half his head?

Do people actually read in bed when their partner is trying to sleep?

Marriage requires patience I suppose.

I never understand this theme. I could not read much in bed before sleeping. I’d fall asleep with the book on my chest.

I rarely question Jimmy’s word choice, but I can’t see how a person can peruse hundreds of books. Scan or skim, yes.

Especially, when it is midnight and your partner is sound asleep!

I think the colorist mistook her tablet for a book. I don’t think iPads come in that color.

My iPad and iPhone both have book-style covers.

I always thought that when I retired I would be able to read the 600+ books on my ‘For Later’ list. Retired 3 years and it hasn’t happened yet. Sigh…
BTW, some tablets don’t require lights to be on.
