Back in the early 70’s, my father bought an Austin America. It was the first front-wheel drive car that I ever drove. The wheels were set out near the corners of the car, much like the current Mini Cooper. It cornered like it was on rails – what a blast, even for an underpowered car. It was also the first car that I ever saw with the high-beam switch built into the turn signal stalk.
I had a 65 sunbeam alpine Apik and my memory is 50 years old . BUT -damn I just remembered it was Hillman Minx parts that I had to salvage to keep that alpine going ! Good times
