This unfortunately is problem with many people, you do not have to actually be doing “Better” Than them, many time it just has to look that way to the offended person.

Most of us have probably seen the AT&T commercial where the woman gives a lollipop to a little girl and then gives a bigger lollipop to her brother. The girl’s first reaction is “That’s not fair!”
The little girl seemed perfectly happy with the lollipop until her brother got a bigger one. What did the girl do to deserve the lollipop to begin with?
This human condition has existed for at least 2,000 years as it is recorded on one of the Gospels where Jesus tells the parable of a person hired people to work in his fields. He hired some in the morning, some at mid-day and still others just before sunset and paid them all the same wage. Those hired in the morning and mid-day felt cheated and that the owner of the fields didn’t have the “right” to do this.
Then there is the parable of the prodigal son. The “good” son complains, “Dad, I’m the responsible one and HE gets the reward!”
That’s what happens when you compare yourself to others and judge yourself by some external standard.
