That’s often because people, who don’t have the looks, have to develop a personality to survive but people, with looks, don’t have to because they can just get by with those.

Starting in childhood, those of us who formed our view of reality overwhelmingly from TV shows and movies have an often shallow, simplistic view of the world. The union of political forces with Artifical Intelligence and Deep Fake techniques will make Reality even more unreal.

Not true. The most judgmental people I’ve ever encountered are men, always judging and criticizing women.

True, Aunty. Also, some of the nicest people you’ll meet are four-footed and furry.

I have to admit that I still judge people by their appearance.

I have a known (to myself) prejudice against people who are heavily inked and pierced. It’s their body and they don’t need my permission to do anything they want with it. Yet, my initial, “gut” reaction is negative.

There is absolutely NO rational reason for this: it’ simply because they are different from me. I have not had even ONE negative encounter with people who choose to adorn their bodies this way.

I think I still have some xenophobia left in me. With other groups, I have a lot of contact with them: I work with them, I socialize with them, I worship with them and otherwise hang out more or less on a regular basis with them.

I cannot say that I know, on a personal level, anyone that fits this group. Yes, I do know people with piercings and tattoos, but they are what I consider a “modest” amount. Maybe more exposure will cause the novelty to wear off.

About the only positive thing I can say about this prejudice is that I KNOW that I have it and I can overpower my initial gut reaction. This awareness keeps the door open for me to look out for those other prejudices I still don’t know I have.

And a frequently used disguise is to call your group the opposite of how it behaves / what it stands for, e.g. NAZIs called themselves the National SOCIALIST German Workers Party.
