Can’t do it that way! I learned to use the “drill” method. There was an unofficial test in Boy Scouts where they give you your breakfast raw and two matches. I already knew what I was going to do. I could make fire with a stick and my sheath knife. As I was getting my ember, the scout master walked by. “Ha! Used your matches already? Good luck with that!” Later, as my fire was going and breakfast cooking he walked by, “Oh! You got it going. Did somebody help you?” I reached into my shirt pocket and gave him back his two matches.
