So, Lottie and Shauna were first introduced in the Scary-Go-Round storyline “The Estate”. At the time, Ryan and Amy hadn’t gotten together yet, but were rooming together, along with Erin’s sister Shelley, and a fourth roommate, a creature called Desmond Fishman, who… is pretty much what it says on the tin.
Due to a misunderstanding involving Ryan and Lottie’s sister Sarah, who were dating at the time, Des ran away from home, and ended up wandering down onto the Swarbrick Estate, where Shauna grew up. He was accosted by some lads, and ended up getting taken in by Shauna’s older brother Darren. (Yes, Shauna has an older brother. He hasn’t been around lately.) Shauna invited a skeptical Lottie around to see “the biggest frog in England or the world”. This led to Ella finding out about Des, and she hatched a scheme to pretend Des was her son to make money on tabloid circuit. That revealed to Shelley where Des was, and she confronted Ella on the Jeremy Kyle Show and took Des back home. Shauna still holds a grudge against Shelley for that. Lottie, on the other hand, knows Shelley through Sarah, and Shelley’s been a friend and mentor to her for years.
Some time later, Des ran into the girls again, and they solved The Case of Where Did Desmond Fishman Come From. Turns out he’s the lost son and heir of the 18th Lord Sunderland and a mermaid, and he’s since inherited the family estate and title.
So long story short, the Lord Sunderland Lottie mentions in her editorializing is probably Desmond Fishman’s father, or possibly grandfather, and so indirectly involved in Shauna and Lottie’s origin story, and this story is actually relevant to today’s strip.
@John Campbell, following up from yesterday, it appears that they (and we) failed to account for the Fiat Panda already containing four young teenagers and an adult woman when calculating how many bricks fit in it as they are well over carrying capacity.
Poor Phyllis.
Is Lottie beginning to see the method in Jack’s madness, or just showing off her knowledge of the estate currently beset by the Night Creeper? Is there a connection between Sunderland and Cheviot Hall? Were the bricks quarried in the old gravel pit? Will Desmond the 19th Lord Sunderland Fishman mesmerize the Night Creeper with his astounding Speedo thus enabling the kids and Erin to build a stone prison around him where he stands?

Erin, that’s basically Lottie’s general state of being.
Also, you’re one to talk about editorializing.

Did Lottie offer that whole enlightening commentary or just the part about daughters?

Ah, the Mountbatten Gravel Pit Estate. (As opposed to the present residence of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, namely the Mountbatten Tar Pit Estate.)
