Found a hundred once, but it was wadded up and there was no one around.

Not to worry. If it’s theanswer to a prayer, the owner won’t be found, and she will get to keep it.

Tia, you better pray to let the owner know that you found the wallet with a lot of cash and do the right thing to give the owner the wallet/cash back honestly.

I returned a wallet filled with cash and credit cards to a very distraught woman. I wouldn’t take a reward and only gave her my first name. It’s an unusual name…she tracked me down somehow and gave me a gift certificate for dinner at a very nice restaurant. That was better than any reward, ever. Tia will do the right thing :-)

A fool and his money are soon parted. In this digital age why carry cash? Unless the owner is trying to live off the grid for nefarious reasons. So therefore, karma is balanced.

Carrying cash is a good way to stick to a budget and remember that things cost real money. As for the wallet, I was faced with a situation similar to Tia Carmen’s. At least $200 cash I really could’ve used. But as soon as I spotted the owner’s driver’s license, I knew keeping it wasn’t even remotely possible for my conscience’s sake. Clear ownership to me meant handing it to the nearest police officer. The license was out-of-state or I’d have just taken it to them directly.

On a separate occasion a few years prior, I found $100 in twenties as if they’d been scattered like birdseed. No envelope or anything. That I kept with a clear conscience.

Little boy in bank: “Did anyone just lose ten one-hundred-dollar bills wrapped in a rubber band?”

Every customer in bank at once: “Yes, I did!”

Little boy: “Well, I found the rubber band!”

prasrinivara: not sure what you mean by the right thing, but it is obvious that the rest of us mean she will return the wallet to its rightful owner.

I think Tia Carmen is turning the good book principle around: “There’s more happiness in receiving than giving” ….. lol
