And in what way is a slice off of the pig’s butt any better? A friend of my Mexican mother-in-law made the most incredible tamales from a boiled pig’s head. We won’t don’t want to ask about what hot dogs, bologna, and other such common sausages are made from, do we?
sottwell, the pig’s head is largely of bone and leather, and a much-lesser weight of possibly-edible cartilage and brain; the rump-slice you menation is cent-percent flesh.
(even though I, like vast-majority of Indians, won’t touch any cut of pork even with a barge-pole)
The Bible is very clear on what is clean and what is unclean, pigs are unclean.
Eating anything unclean is your prerogative, I just wouldn’t advise anyone to do so.
In Acts, the sheet of unclean animals descending down to Peter is explained clearly. It meant that he was to preach to the Gentiles and to not consider them as unclean.
I need to check about where Paul says to eat whatever is put before you. Sounds like that was taken out of context.
cant be any worse than tripe , or menudos
which he probably thinks is very tasty….
if it is disgusting to eat the meat off a pig’s head , why is it ok to chomp on his rear end?– maybe cause it reminds us too much that this thing was alive at one time…
better to think our meat comes from packages in the grocery store and best to ignore how they got there….
I DO NOT WANT TO SEE THAT PIG’S OR COW’S HEAD IN THE COOKING PAN. YIKES! I refuse to eat either of them on the plate. BLEEECCHHHHH!
I could not remember the chapter and verse of the Bible about God sent all of animals with hoofs that was OK to eat while the man (I could not recall the man’s name) was straving. the man told God that those were not clean but God told the man that those were clean. I am not really sure what it said exactly. In fact I agree with God about “farm animal” with hoofs that are OK to eat. Other than that, are NOT Ok to eat.
This link from that page addresses Paul’s intent in Romans 14, where he wrote that “I know and am convinced by the Lord Jesus that there is nothing unclean of itself; but to him who considers anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean”:

Of course, other Biblical commentaries will differ in interpretations and emphases, and I’m not enough of a theologian to endorse or denounce the views of the United Church of God, which sponsors the linked site.
I found these in Acts 10:
9About noon the following day as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray. 10He became hungry and wanted something to eat, and while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance. 11He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners. 12It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles of the earth and birds of the air. 13Then a voice told him, “Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.”
14”Surely not, Lord!” Peter replied. “I have never eaten anything impure or unclean.”
15The voice spoke to him a second time, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”
chromosome, you stopped short on your verses.
Acts 10:28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.
Sorry everyone, just wanted to clarify here. Anyone interested in this should read Acts, chapters 10 and 11.
The Bible also says “All things are lawful for me, but all things are not good for me to do.”
I love bacon. As much as anyone. But I wouldn’t eat it in excess. The Bible has a lot of rules about diet, hygiene, etc. They’re not to be followed as some legalistic law, like the Pharisees told others. God put them there because it’s not good to eat things that could make you sick (Like shellfish, which are technically oceanic vacuum cleaners, though I LOVE coconut shrimp. I don’t eat it often) or do things that could help breed bacteria (Like going to the bathroom within the confines of a military base).
So, as I said, All things are lawful for me, but all things are not good for me to do. 1st Corinthians 6:12
And Jules was sore wroth with Vincent, and spake unto him, “Verily, sewer rat may taste even like unto pumpkin pie: But never shall I know it, for never shall I eat the mother-knower.”
Because Ancient Israel and the Israelite led up to the other religions of the middle East. Namely, Christianity and Islam. Islam like Judaism feel that Pork is unclean. Thats why i wrote it.

There is a practical reason why pigs are unclean, at least in ancient times like during the bible era.
The clean animals - cows, sheep and goats are all herding animals. In other words they could be moved in large herds and were manageable.
The pig is not a herding animal. You have to keep it penned up if you want to keep it.
And what were the Israelites? Herders. So of course they would view anything they couldn’t move around comfortably as wrong and thus unclean.
Even if your not religious one can see the logic in it.
