Ah, your car’s on fire! (I’ve haven’t heard someone say “coche” for a long time!)

I should brush up on my high school Spanish. I remember reading Cervantes in that language in college ( I also remember being the only student to get a lowly “B” in our production of “Man from LaMancha:>). Somehow that is not the language I hear on the streets.

But give Dad credit - he’s always teaching.

thanks for clearing that up joe. do you understand that if he said that there would not be much of a comic? explaining or deconstructing strips each day serves no purpose.

I’m not Spanish so why would I do that ? this is still the USA please speak english. thank you.

On the fifth panel, Papi finally popped his eyes out! LOLs! Apparently, he got what Baldo said the last word; “BOOM!” X-D

I have the question to ask the readers. Which one should we use to put the fire down from the car engine with fire extinguisher or “foam” thing for example; the foam in car engine of Papi’s car on the last panel?

lindonc, are you English, then? We don’t have an official language in the United States.

In any other language Boom is Boom! (I think)

Personally, Lewreader, when I speak to the Lord, I use Hebrew.

Did the English speaking immigrants learn the native languages when they came?

You’d think God, at least, wouldn’t be monolingual. If He confounded our tongues at Babel, you wouldn’t think He’d expect us to learn Hebrew (or Greek, Latin, Arabic, if you prefer) in order to carry on a conversation…

fritzoid: Just to clear it up for you, God speaks and writes in English - I saw it in my mother’s bible (she was very proud of it, too - everything God “said” was printed in red ink, and as she used to tell us, “This is what God actually said! You can see it’s in red!”)

You hear “coche” all day long in Spain, at least Madrid and the North-central coast. But I’ve only heard “carro” in the Americas.

I love languages, they are so much fun.

I’ve never met anybody who didn’t understand pointing, holding up a # of fingers to count, or “Boom!”

If you really want to speak of love, it’s not essential to actually learn French. The bulk of the effect can be achieved simply by adopting a French accent:

“Onh-hohn, ma leetle cabbazhe, ma petite ohn-yohn, you make me enflambe wiz ze dee-zahr! I neeble on ze ear, I keess you on ze mouse, I make l’amour toujour all night longue…!”

or another one that was removed?

@Wildmustang: foam is indeed the best extinguisher for any kind of petrol/oil/grease fire. However, from a practical point of view, I would still prefer powder or even CO2 if I have to knock back the fire to be able to open the hood.

Funny how Mr. Doty seemed to get angry about someone telling him something he already knew, and yet that’s exactly what he did in the post that spurred the comment he referred to. I guess there are none so blind as those who will not see.
