    I’m with you, fbjsr. Let’s raise the capital gains tax and the inheritance tax to, let’s say, 75%. After all, nobody works for THAT money.

    Fritzoid. Didn’t your father and grandfather (or mother and grandmother) work for the money you inherit? Didn’t they already pay tax on it? What’s the rationale behind taxing it again (other than the govt. wanting more money to squander)?

    What’s bad about the inheritance tax, is that the government taxes on the property value. Which means that farmland might have to be sold to pay the taxes, rather than passing it down to the next generation to farm. Same thing with the expensive equipment needed to farm efficiently.
