Transcript:
Gracie: I procure considerable gratification from belles-lettres. Tia Carmen: What does that mean? Baldo: It means Gracie checked out a thesaurus from the school library.
Unfortunately, it’s a problem with people who think a thesaurus is a collection of synonyms. It’s not. There are synonyms, but also related words. Russet, scarlet, and cerise are all types of red, but they’re not the same. Thesauri can improve the vocabulary, but the brain still needs to be in gear.

It means hit Gracie with the Thesaurus repeatedly until she dumbed down enough for public school.
