It’s a shame her robot doesn’t have a hand with which to slap his face or a foot with which to kick in his “lugar especial.”

At least he took enough interest in her to look up her condition so that he can understand more about her. How many boys that age would go beyond the superficial level of her looks.

thank you SO MUCH for bring attention and awareness to PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease) which affects men, women, children – regardless of age, race or ethnic origin. Over 600,000 Americans and 12.5 million worldwide are dealing with this very common, life-threatening genetic disease and SO FAR there is NO treatment or cure. For further information please contact PKDCURE.org.

I never thought I’d see PKD in the comics … wonder where they’ll go with it! I’ve got it, and it ultimately killed Mom (PKD’s main variant is hereditary and dominant). Though to my knowledge so far, it doesn’t do much for the immune system until after a kidney transplant – the immunosuppresant drugs that keep you from rejecting the new kidney also leave you more vulnerable to infections & illness.

I am loving this story arc. Way to educate us and demonstrate the latest (future?) accessibility tech! Thanks to cbcomicsfan also. Put-y-back, live with it a while. I look forward to seeing where this goes.

I’m not really getting this arc – nice to raise awareness of a disease many don’t know about, but I don’t see the robot part fitting in even in the future – students can already take interactive online classes in real time, so why would an expensive robot be needed to wander the school halls (to say nothing of the likely pranks high school students might do with/to it.

I like this arc. It is current and relevant to today’s issues. There are a few using this technology already.

    And it is funny!

My guess is that Rayna (so named to conjure up “renal”?) is on dialysis, which can result in immune-system deficiencies. I have PKD, too. Both my father and a cousin had kidney transplants, and neither of them had to worry about contact with others or extreme immune-system deficiencies. I don’t recall any immune issues while Dad was on dialysis, but it IS a possible “side effect”.

Thanks for putting a spot-light on the most common hereditary condition!

I’m not finding anything that says one of PKD needs to be kept away from other people. I would like to know if that is one of the things that PKD entails.
