I would have told him the same thing I told my father, “At least I am reading and not drinking enough beer to be considered German, and watching crappy TV like you!”
There’s nothing childish about comic books. They are excellently written and fantastically illustrated. They’re fun and exciting and have very sophisticated story lines.

My wake-up call was when I noticed that cops and doctors were starting to look like high school kids playing dress-up. :)

I wonder what he was reading? El santo? Fantomas? I recall some of those cheesy Mexican comics I grew up with, but not the titles.
