Baldo: Mr. Rod, we make minimum wage, right? Mr. Rod: Yes, you do. Baldo: Do you think we'll ever make more Mr. Rod: Of course you will! Mr. Rod: When you go to college and get a degree in business administration!
When I worked retail while in college we were paid about a dollar over minimum wage to start.
The company was very considerate of employees – if one worked Xmas and or summer and not the rest of the year when one came back each season one was treated as if one had been there all year in terms of raises and benefits picked up where they left off (no wait for discount), When I told them I was leaving as I got a job as an accountant they offered me accounting department & manager positions to stay.
Birthdays were a paid day off. I once worked Columbus day, a paid holiday there (among others). I started at opening and worked til closing. I was paid double time plus for working the holiday and working around 11 hours, plus the paid holiday.
