I had a problem with a fan belt once, and it didn’t make a sound. Because it had broken and fallen away while I was driving down the interstate highway over 100 miles away from home just as evening arrived. Power steering didn’t work, water pump didn’t work (engine overheating the result) and the alternator didn’t work (so battery was discharging).
