On a car of that year the total cost of the parts mentioned would run around $20. So no second job needed. And Baldo works at a parts house? If I went in to Advance Auto and said I think my ohms went bad they would laugh me out of the place. Maybe a plug wire got burnt through on a header and his ohms went to infinity. That would work.
