maybe in a private Catholic school you can say that, Gracie, but I would think not in a public secular school

I liked school. The first day and the last day. Everything else in between sucks.

I spent my whole 30 year teaching career in classrooms without air conditioning. I always assumed Satan invented the first days of the new school year!

Not sure why a kid walking up to school couldn’t say that?

First, I am not really sure why in a hot area of the country school would start mid August.

Second – Other than having to wake up early I loved school. Summer was so boring – nothing to do. I would finish whatever library books I took out of the library each week (maximum number allowed to be taken), by the next day. I would finish the summer library reading program the first week of summer – and then had to argue with the librarian as they did not believe me.

On Wednesdays in the summer we would go to the library, out for lunch and do the food shopping. The highlight of the week.
