Sounds kind of like Guitar Bob and Andy Capp.

Baldo, that’s just mean. We don’t see YOU learning an instrument!

That applies to a lot of new stuff being promoted as “music”…

I took guitar lessons in a recreation program. I took private piano lessons. I was in chorus in elementary school when it was a club. I joined chorus in junior high when it was a class. I was kicked out of the class due to an argument with the teacher – I said I could sing, he said I could not.

I come from a family of listeners. We will sing along very enthusiastically, but we are all tone deaf. I also have no sense of rhythm. If people ask if I play an instrument I say “I can play the piano, but I cannot get it to make music.”

I can’t even always tell what song is being played if instrumental. We are 18th c reenactors. Husband thought it important for me to recognize “Chester” which was an unofficial anthem of the period. So when at events he would ask me what song was being played and I would stare at him – he would say that it was Chester & be very frustrated. I finally realized he only asked when it was same. So I started replying Chester when he asked. One time it wasn’t & he found me out.
