My understanding is when COVID-19 started showing how quickly it spread and how it could kill but not be killed, Hallmark decided to run Christmas movies to spread good cheer. I also understand that a good # of people, particularly in the NE, began putting up Christmas lights in the windows as a sign of hope and joy.
