Good idea, Gracie. Get an early start on your family’s oral history. I talked to my maternal grandmother late in her life and have an audio tape of some of her family facts but I think she was already getting confused. I still have a lot of questions about my family but no one is left to ask. Start it now and keep it up if you want to know your family.
My mother and I collaborated on writing a small book of her mother’s “old country” sayings and expressions that we published for private distribution throughout the family. I still, 50 years later, get occasional requests for copies from non-relatives and relatives who were too young to know either my grandmother or my mother.
