Wanted a tuna salad sandwich the other day but there was no canned tuna, so I used a can of sardines packed in olive oil. Does that qualify as a bad cook or a creative cook?
Many years ago when I was first married, my wife who makes a great 3 bean salad, served me one that had these white balls in it. I asked her what they were because they didn’t look like garbanzo beans. She said that she had run out of Wesson Oil to make the salad and melted Crisco to make up the difference. Being no fool, I ate the salad.
Dr Peggy (Phypnotist) - My sister didn’t know you were supposed to crack the eggs when you put them in the cake batter. The cake had layers of eggshells on top.. It did create a crunchy topping.
There was the occasion when my father microwaved a meat pie for 45 minutes instead of 4 minutes. He got the oven instructions mixed with the microwave instruction.
a former housemate made one dish and one dish only every night of the period we lived together. his version of “spaghetti napolitan” as it’s called in japan involved wok-fried spaghetti noodles with sliced hot dogs and bell peppers. it probably tasted as bad as it smelled…

Some salads go in the microwave oven, such as a warm broccoli salad.

My mom used to make Tamale pie. More often then not, she would put in olives with pits instead of pitted olives. it was like a landmine.

My sister made lasagna once and put it in the oven BEFORE she cooked the store bought noodles! Crunchy lasagna anyone?

We put all kinds of stuff in the microwave oven. Granted, it’s frequently just a good spot to hide something from the cats…

Yum! Cooked ice berg lettuce and tomato.
Coleslaw would be good.
