I love how this comic shows Hispanic children as regular students, with a place of their own in class. Kids who want the same things as all the other kids.
Truman does not look like a one-room school. Therefore, Gracie will not have the same teacher next term, unless she is in a combined class or there is team teaching. No indication of that and even so, Gracie would not know until the beginning of the term.
I’m in favor of that. The trouble is, in Georgia with all the teacher work days and “Autumn Holidays” and “Winter Holidays” and “Let’s Make Parents Scramble To Find Child Care For A Week For No Good Reason” in addition to the regular spring break and Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks, we have to start the new school year in July.

Most Pennsylvania schools start after Labor Day. Michigan has a state law that says that schools can’t start before Labor Day!

Careful, Gracie — the things on your list might not be what your teacher is allowed to teach…

That girl is so arrogant.

That is not how it works. The teacher has no input about what she teaches. In FL the governor decides all of that, and a lot more.

Gracie can learn whatever she wants over Summer break. She cannot force it on other kids or the teacher.

Gracie is so eager to learn.

wouldn’t this be something to be brought up to the school board not the school itself?
