I worked retail at a local department store for 10 1/2 years with no big issues, it was the little issues that built up over the years that finally got to me. I do remember one time when I was working at the cash register, this was back when paper checks were still around and for security purposes we were suppose to check the customer’s ID before accepting the check. This was a bone of contention with many customers and I was always getting complaints about why I needed to see their IDs when all their information was right there on the check. One night I actually came up with a response to that complaint and when one woman pointed out that all her information was on the check I responded, “that’s just what someone would say if someone stole your checkbook and tried to pass a check.” For a second the customer looked like a deer caught in the headlights as she suddenly realized that the ID policy protected her as well as the store and she couldn’t dig her wallet out of her purse fast enough. I saw the man standing behind her with a big grin on his face as he pulled out his wallet to get his own ID.
My First Maite began the Christmas decoration projects (grumble, grumble) yesterday. The tree is up and festooned without fight or argument ( a first, I think…), most of the lights are strung, and some of the other adornments are awaiting orders from La Generala’s regarding placement.
I love Thanksgiving. But Black Friday sucks eggs and it all goes downhill from there. Wish I could hide out in the BC’s Turkeys bar until after New Years.

Well done, Gracie! Maybe you have one hiding under this one for Valentine’s Day?
