okay so this morning is just not getting started. i have saved my computer about 3 times and each time what we are going to do gets put off so i take it back out. well now Mrs. P is taking a nap bc she forgot to take her pain pill for her 11 back surgeries so we put a load of clothes washing and drying and now shes napping and im eatting lunch and playing on here.
Well I have to go to town. I broke LilG’s favorite birdbath and I need to see if it can be replaced. Or maybe she should just replace me. It might be easier. LOL
Oh JFri have you no shame? Cleo’s your buddy, you should be sticking up for him! Let the women take care of “Shame on You Cleo!” Of course, if I pick on him, he won’t share his Bookers with me anymore. Forget that idea!!
Whoa! How did we go from Hurricanes and bird baths to nagging? I know a few male species who can nag with the best of them! I’m “speaking/typing” to one now! :-P
And I don’t mean Cleo, either, Turd!
I should have been scratching all day with all this talk about me and my birdbath and Booker’s. The birdbath was a glass bowl that sat in an iron base. I went to put a rock in it that birds could sit on and let go of the rock to soon and a chunk fell out of the bottom of the glass. And of course you can’t find them anymore at the nurseries in town. I will check online, but I am not holding my breath. Now I am at home watering. Even though it has been crappy weather, it has been dry for the last two weeks and at the lake we get strong breezes everyday which tend to dry things out. Those who wish to water can grab a glass of Booker’s to occupy your other hand. Who knows maybe I’ll give you a little water to go with that Booker’s. snerk!
Here I come! I enjoy watering, but when I do, I always find something else that needs done, like pulling a few weeds, deadheading some flowers, tying up a straglly tomato plant, etc. I can always get side tracked from my original purpose in the garden!
Cleo can you find a glass bowl that will substitute for the orignial, something that wouldn’t be considered for the garden, in a kitchen store or somewhere?
I need a towel. And since I have this water hose in my hand, I hope a certain someone has some towels of his own handy!
Pssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhtttttttttttttt!
Holy moly, it’s 4:00 already! I’ve been outside, planting more plants, and not drinking Bookers! I heard from DigitalFrog today. He wondered what was up at BT.
Hello Marg. How can you work in the garden and not have sustenance. LOL I left a little message for DigF, I believe on The Barn, just welcoming him and his puns back.
Dry you are like my wife in the garden, she becomes distracted with other tasks that catch her attention. I tend to continue with the present job with the intent of coming back later to take care of the others and then conveniently forgetting them.
Have fun with the hoses people as long as some of the water ends up on the plants.
we are finaly getting rain!!!!!!! hahahahahhahahahahha we have been needing rain its been SO dry out here its not even funny! we needed this big time. Carmy hows it going out there? let us know sweet lady! i love you!!
Hello Tabby. Marg tonic and lime goes good with a hot humid day. My watering for the day is winding down, of course the two big kids are having fun with the hoses and Booker’s.
Howdy Marg! Tonic and lime, your Happy Hour drink? I greeted Digital also, but I forget where! Good to see him back, hope he doesn’t get into the nonsense! I doubt he will.
Cleo what other veggies do you grow? Peppers, cucumbers, squah, you may have said but I forget. I have a lot of green tomatoes already, mostly the grape and cherry, but a few big ones coming on like Parks Whopper.
Cleo forgot to ask what herbs? I have chives, parsley, cilantro, basil and dill. Believe it or not, my chives are transpalnts from my dad’s garden which I got many years ago now, before I even had kids!
I had to laugh! I googled my state, (to find the hottest temperature ever recorded) and they made reference to my part of the state having a certain accent! Made me laugh out loud. If you’re interested I think you know where to look!
Dry, I plant lots of tomatoes, lettuce cucumbers, peppers, carrots, onions, asparagus, two types of oreganon, 3 or 4 types of thyme, 4 types of basil, tarragon, rosemary, chives, sage, savory, three types of raspberry, several types of strawberry, and a couple of other berries. I am probably forgetting something.
Cleo your list made me forget some of mine. I also have carrots, red beets, asparagus, strawberries, green and yellow beans, of course HOT PEPPERS, as well as sweet. I think that’s it. I used to grow cabbage and make my own sauerkraut, made my own pickles, etc. Maybe someday I will again, but these old bones find it easier to freeze items rather than can them. LOL! And of course, in summer, you can just go out and pick what you want!
You didn’t mention dill, you should grow that for your seafood! Delicious!
Marg I thought so. I just bought a bag of key limes, and a bag of lemons. I make limeade and lemonade in summer. I have seltzer water, I think I will try that tonight. I know I’ll like it, I just never thought of it!
Cleo Do you pickle your green beans also? I love cold Dilly Beans. I make them all the time, even in winter. I usually don’t eat breakfast, but I pack things for work to eat around 10 am. I guess I pack things most people wouldn’t think of eating at that time of day. Carrots, celery, raw cukes, radishes, different cheeses, pickled cauliflower or green beans, marinated broccoli, crackers and hummus, etc.
Dry those are the kind of munching we did back in North Dakota as I was growing up. My dad’s parents always had a garden and my mom and our next door neighbor used to rent a field from a farmer and plant large veggie gardens. We always had watermelon pickles, pickled fish from my uncle’s lake cabin. I would eat pickled pigs feet, fresh peas out of the shell, radishes, cucumbers soaked in vinegar. Now I have added hummus, great cheeses, rice crackers and very good crackers, my homemade baguettes, roasted red peppers, goat cheese. YUM!!!
Oh I grew peas this year too. Not a big crop, but they tasted good, the little bit I grew! They were snow peas, and I threw them into salads. Legumes are good “nitrogen fixers” for your soil, but I’m sure you knew that with Lil G’s penchant for gardening.
Well tonight is a leftover dinner for LilG, but I will have tuna flash fried until crisp on the outside, but rare on the inside, plus gigante beans and vegetable tomato sauce over penne. I may not post again before dinner as my time in the kitchen is imminent.
Cleo First time I had flash tuna, was the best tuna I ever had! Now that’s the only way I’ll eat it. Except from a can or pouch for salads or sandwiches.
We have a dishwasher, but there are plenty of items that we don’t put into it…wine glasses, cast iron pans, wooden salad bowl, good knives, etc. My task, whether I cook or not is dishes.
Actually it doesn’t. We are both foodies so we do the dishwasher probably every other day. I don’t mind doing hand washing either, unless something is stuck on. Well, carry on, for us it is …. Movie time.
