Much better hockey game tonight. We won 4-2 AND it was Dash for Cash night where they throw 10,000 silver dollars on the ice and32 of us get to scoop up as many as we can in 2 minutes. I got a couple hundred so it was
I hve lots of reading to do, so that is why I am scarce. Always something.:-(
Dry Thank you for your story last night. You had a wonderful childhood and your Grandmother was a saint!
JFri: I had to sell 12 silver dollars to get $200.00 this summer, and you just saunter onto the ice to pick it up! However, you will have to wait fifty or sixty years to make money on your investment.
cleo, Dry is mean to burst your bubble. Either that, or an angel in disguise. I’m not sure that Empire chickens are as kosher as they think. I mean, ANY butcher can look filthy and stink. Why pay for kosher? :-)
I just googled empire chicken and it looks like any problems with them were back in 2004 and those problems had to do with improper weight issues. Since then they appear to be everything that I assumed that they were, good, non-caged and reports by publications like Cook’s Illustrated saying their flavor beat out other’s in taste tests. I will continue to eat them with no worries.
Shika actually it was my Italian Great AUNT that made the homemade pasta, and she truly was a LOVELY LADY! She looked like the typical elderly Italian lady with gray hair swept up in a bun like they used to wear it back in the old country. And that woman had a heart of gold!My grandmother, the only one I knew, my dad’s mother, was a VERY SWEET AND GENTLE SOUL also. And she was German JFri! :-DMy mother’s mom died when my mom was around 5, sad sad story there. Now a days, my grandfather would have been arrested for murder, or at least manslaughter. He pushed her down the stairs when she was pregnant with my Aunt Louise, and hemorraged from the fall. My Aunt Louise was saved, my grandmother wasn’t.
Yes it is chilly here as well! Sigh! We went over the mountain for dinner today and the mountains are turning to fall colors. And it was cloudy and drizzling, and actually, kind of depressing.
Hola to those still around. We just had homemade chicken pot pie and corn on the cob for dinner. It was all I could do to get LilG to stop eating it some that I could have some for lunch. For a petite, slender woman she can eat like a trucker.Special ticks are in order for Shika and Dry when needed. JFri is probably back looking for silver dollars overlooked in the riot.
You have stink bugs? The only time that I encountered them was in Ontario on the lake. The streets were covered in them and you had to dash inside to avoid getting them in your room.
Yeah cleo! WE GOT STINK BUGS! Imported from ASIA I understand. This is the worst year yet! They try to get indoors for the winter months! I have counted at one time, in one day, 15 on one window screen, 30 on another, and so on and so on. Opened my closet door today and found one hanging on my blouse. Hubby found 5 in his gym shorts which were hanging up on the clothes rack. They are all over the place. The outside of our office building is COVERED with them and there aren’t many insecticides, if any, that kill them!
And nothing kills the little bastards! I took a can of that air blast that you use to clean your computers, the stuff that turns to ice basically. Sprayed it through the window screen on them to see if it would kill them. It did, for about 3 hours, went back to check and the little shits were waking up and crawling around. Toss them in the toilet, they swim! And if you crush them, you know what happens! PEE YOU! STINK! They are named STINK BUGS FOR A GOOD REASON!

Shika I am not sure about Empire chicken and cleanliness. I just know that it is tastier than any other that I have had in along time.

Well cleo, I will grant you, that was well before 2004 when I dealt with them, but the memory lingers, you know?

I’m so sorry about your grandmother Dry. Some men can be brutal. And they get away with it, or did in those days.
It would have been a treat to know your Italian Great Aunt or your dad’s German mom. Grandparents can be such a blessing, mostly.
