    Welcome, everybody!

We’re here at Millie and Mitchell’s house, to solve and discuss the Saturday “Find-the Differences puzzle” …..

on the Sept 9th  2018 “CLEO and COMPANY”

And what a puzzle it is!

    Take a look… it’s on Sherpa

    http://www.comicssherpa.com/site/feature?uc_comic=cscwy

No wonder Mitch gave up, and he’s working on his stamp collection instead.

Millie can’t get him to join the rest of us… or help her count.

He always does just what he always does.

She’s only got 3, 273 so far… and she’s afraid one of us will beat her to the full solution.

Not Fireside, I guess. He can’t find any.

I don’t blame him… the differences are pretty subtle.

Even so …I hate to say it, Nighthawks…

    but I  counted 4,547.

    Here’s your side-by-side, everybody….. and good luck!

      https://i.postimg.cc/1z5SJyjh/Cleo_nine_differences_Sept_29th_18.png

You know, I usually hate spoilers of any kind….

but please forgive me for one teeny hint….

there were an awful lot of one particular thing to count.

It was difficult to be accurate…. and therein may lie the discrepancy.

For some reason, there was no Ballard Street strip for September 30th, 2008.

Please come back here to comment on tomorrow’s (September 30th) “Cleo and Company” …

we’ll save the next Ballard Street strip, dated Oct 1st, for comments on the October 1st “Cleo and Company” …

that way the dates will stay in sync.

Thank you Saucy, for noticing …

I usually check the 2008 Sundays, because a few of those are missing.

But the 30th was a Tuesday, so ??

In re: getting here from the current Ballard Street….

It actually works out OK, this time, cos the 30th is a Sunday in 2018… when there’s no new strip.

Going back 10 years will bring you here!

When I give those directions, though, I should mention that in 2018, with no new Sunday strips…

You usually do have to move ahead one day, if you come on a Sunday, by changing the year on a Saturday strip.

I keep (Cleo) Ballard St. open all the time. So I just change the date in the URL (Address bar) to the next day. If no one is commenting there I just revert to the previous day and see if people are commenting there. If that doesn’t work I’ll just go back to bed.

I’m retired so I really don’t care what day it is.

The solution to today’s Cleo & Co. puzzle is a quick run though of “The History of Aviation”.

Note that Cleo is armed so no peeking.

    Great job, X!

You have to count pretty fast to make sure you get them all….

But yeah…. I think it shows all the same differences I found…

    so 4,547 is correct.

    ᴘʀᴇsᴇɴᴛs

!!THIS ONE IS RIGHT IN MY WHEELHOUSE!!

“Saturday Non Puzzle Non Solution Saturday Special”

After months of literally painstaking* research it is my conclusion that one of NINE generic comments covers every Cleo & Co.™ strip:

    1.       * Stakes can be very painful.

    2.       If Nighthawks can mess with Find The Nine Differences, The Ole Scalawag can mess with the Non Solution.

    3.       What is a wheelhouse, anyhow?

    4.       Get that American flag OFF THAT MOON LANDER! Don’t you go to the movies? The American flag (the one that my father and 3 of his brothers wore as patches on their uniform sleeves in WWII) is verboten in some corners (we’re looking at you Ryan Gosling) of Hollywood. (oh. Sherpa isn’t Hollywood. never mind)

    5.       My grandfather (b. 1886 in Yoestown, Arkansas) was an engineer on the Missouri Pacific RR, and he took me to a roundhouse once, but I’ve never seen a wheelhouse. …. (and, if all else fails) …

    9.       WHOOSH! (oops. I mean,) COVFEFE!**

** EXTRA! BONUS! YOUR LUCKY DAY!

Saturday Non Solution Non Rerun Special!

    (Real meaning of COVFEFE revealed!)

    Translation: To comment on Cleo,

    A. Go to Classic Calvin & Hobbes.

    B. Find the time machine.

    C. Locate the setting for Ballard Street Minus 10 years.

NINE. Look for a post by @SusanSunshine (if you get caught in a tornado while you’re time traveling, be careful not to land on her sister).

in retrospect , my attempt at humor here seems a little flat…….which coincides how I felt about this

when I put it together a couple years ago…….I decided it wasn’t very funny.

when it was suggested that I put two panels completely identical to mess with everybody’s minds, I thought

that would be cruel because life is short and that would be a theft of the time warranted before it was determined

that this puzzle was a hoax……

it’s STILL a hoax, but at least no time is wasted to determine it….and my worst offense though, is that after

two years it’s STILL not funny.

sorry!…don’t give up on Cleo and Company; better stuff is on the way

You don’t mind if I don’t play along and find the 4,546 differences, do you? How do we know there are 4,546 differences? There could be more – there could be less.

You all see that big ole rocket engine at the bottom of the Lunar Lander? MyRocketScientist was one of the design teams for that! He put Cleo on the moon and got her back safely again!

A side note to Nighthawks about his “name”. We just got back up from breakfast, and there was a Varsity soccer team having breakfast…..their team name was the Nighthawks from somewhere in Idaho. Man, could these guys eat! (Good kids, and they didn’t even have a food fight!)

We’re in Billings, MT now, heading over to Devil’s Tower WY, hopefully to see the Mother Ship land. And, hear that neat music.

    xoxo Happy Trails.

I think Millie is seriously contemplating becoming the agent of the change she would like to see happen. Chester had better get on board, cause I think the train is about to leave the station.

Good thing it was only Irritable owl syndrome. Claude might have been covered in … uh … owl droppings.

That owl, swooping down from above in panel 2, looks as though he’s got his landing gear all set to descend….

Perhaps he’s aiming to drape Claude’s head in a thick swath of his grey-brown feathery wings,

to provide a lush, but temporary, 1970’s-ish shag “wig”, complete with long bangs of tail feathers.

Could it be that shiny, almost-bald pate that so annoyed the irritable owl,

that he launched a Fashion-Police style attack?

Who knew that owls were such picky fashion mavens!

there is a notable difference between the owl wooshing over Claude’s head

and the old scalawag’s vague reference’s whooshing over MY head.

speaking of vague references, did anybody catch the reference to ’When Harry Met Sally" in my

mention of the types of wheels in my wheelhouse?

    anyone? anyone?

Well, we made it to Devil’s Tower, and we waited and waited for the Mother Ship, and nobody came to greet us (just hundreds of tourists on tour buses). I did see a big ole Screech Owl……..sitting on a fence. Maybe Cleo could identify it for me.
