What’s impressive to me is how these creatures – abominable, swamp things, slime molds, or giants – always wait for the arrival of the most beautiful woman ever to visit the local environs to make their presence known. It’s uncanny.

I can’t tell whether Stan is making a sarcastic comment, or is genuinely concerned about his doggie’s well being.

In my house, if there is no room on the couch, one of the dogs will look at you and whimper. It is amazing that my wife and I ever get to sit and talk anymore.

Swamp Basset is exquisitely drawn for maximum horror! He will dog-paddle right over to those beautiful women, provoking screams of terror, until he rolls over and they realize – he just wants a belly rub.

    (Like margueritem).

Welcome, everybody, to another one from the vault….

a deeep vault…. stretching all the way down to the Black Lagoon!

Gather round as we comment on StelBel’s poster

in the March 19th  2019 “CLEO and COMPANY”

    It’s on Sherpa, of course:

    http://www.comicssherpa.com/site/feature?uc_comic=cscwy

What was it about the 1950’s…. that made so many aliens, mutant bassets, rogue prehistoric sea creatures, giant insects and would-be robot overlords appear?

10 years later, it was reptilian monsters…. though of course there was overlap.

The competition was as fierce as the creatures…. in fact, this film was outright stolen by another company….

I mean, this was already a human/basset co-production, so they weren’t just wanting to make a human version….

But they replaced the basset with this stupid looking thing…. and who were these people who dared to put their names on it??

Richard Carlson… Julia Adams…. for shame!

Dennis… I think Stan’s comment is dripping with so much snark that when this strip ran in the newspapers, it would seep into the next comic below….

making some people wonder why “Rex Morgan” or “Family Circle” seemed rather sarcastic that day.

But at least he seems to be taking it in good humor….

“Anything else I can do for you, sir, before I go look for somewhere else to sit?”

Speaking of somewhere to sit…. how about the Tiki?

I’m craving seafood, for some reason.

I used to love watching Lloyd Bridges in Sea Hunt! All those dangerous fish. Golly.

But, the Basset from the Black Lagoon had lots of fish and other scary things. I think I’ve only watched this one twice. More, if you count the times hiding behind the couch. They always play the screeching music when the creature shows up, so I get plenty of warning.

Mommy and Baby got to come home from the hospital yesterday. Their first stop on the way home………….In and Out Burger! (That’s our daughter!) I think our closest In and Out is in Salt Lake City!
