This is like hearing snatches of one end of a phone call when the only snatch you hear distinctly is “and the doctor said he never saw anything like that inside a cyst!” Ummmm, okay, none of my business, got it.

As soon as Clara mentioned the IRS bill, I smelled payback. And Claude, the old fool, fell for it hook, line, & sinker.

    Hello, everybody!

Here we are again…. to post our comments on

the April 1st  2019 “CLEO and COMPANY”

    Read it on Sherpa

    http://www.comicssherpa.com/site/feature?uc_comic=cscwy

    But… pssst…. don’t fall for either one’s story!

Ooh, maybe I wasn’t supposed to tell you, so Claude or Clara could trick you….

but honestly, the animation isn’t that slow.

You probably wouldn’t be fooled for long, anyway.

Anyway… I think saying you won, as a joke, when you didn’t, is kinda cruel…. just setting someone up for disappointment.

If you did win, and say you didn’t, you can surprise someone with the happy truth, so that’s OK.

But if you get Clara’s hopes up just to dash them, you deserve what you get.

    Speaking of being fooled….

    I’m so ashamed.

Honestly, Nighthawks…. looking at yesterday’s strip, I can tell instantly that it’s an old one….

I have no idea what I was thinking, in the middle of the night, except that I’d forgotten the punch line, so it seemed new….

and I was also somehow thinking it was Monday.

    Sigh…..

Well, today IS Monday… but, sorry… I don’t have the same illusions about today’s strip.

Nice use of fill on Clara’s blouse, though!

    Meanwhile… it’s April Fool’s day…..

    Be careful out there!

And then, Cleo shows them a lottery ticket that shows they won 1 billion dollars and an IRS letter saying that they are getting a refund of 10 billion dollars. After they wake up from fainting, she shows them the back of the lottery ticket and the back of the IRS letter and they both say, “April Fools”. Then, she runs next door so that the evil cat can protect her.

It is so good to see Clara win one! Love it! And I love Clara’s new outfit as well. So bright and cheery.

One of my favorite April Fool’s jokes was a radio show about 12 or 15 years ago, in San Diego. The announcers on the morning commute show said that the Space Shuttle was making an emergency landing at Brown’s Field, a small private plane airpark. Thousands of folks flocked over to it to watch the “landing”.
