So… the dog is smarter than they are. This wouldn’t happen to be Scooter, would it?

Not the Scooter laying right behind me, that’s for sure! He’s a good dog, just very light in the intellect department.

Now I would believe that Cleo & Company cartoon on Comics Sherpa if Cleo was pulling Claude after the Hot Donuts truck (possibly at an elevated form of a sedate waddle), but the other scenario is just too much of a cliche.

Scooter deserves an extra treat, for sure! And if they get audited, I would like to see Scooter defending his math!

Maybe this time the police will catch the doughnut truck. They’ve been chasing it for quite a few months. I hope the mods don’t delete this one.

Sure… the cops-and-doughnuts scenario is about as cliché as the cops-and-robbers chases in the old silent films.

But there’s a reason most clichés exist…

They start out as something that happens over and over….

and I’ve seen too many uniforms and badges in doughnut shops to think this one has no basis in reality.

 

In fact, for years, there was a 24 hr doughnut shop here, off the main drag, but very near downtown….

a long three-sided building on a narrow triangle where two streets merge, windows all around…

and everybody knew it was a cop hangout…. you could always find several there.

 

When you think about it, it makes sense….

You’re in a patrol car at 4am, energy flagging…. the only places open to grab a coffee might be Denny’s, a gas station and a doughnut shop.

You’re not going to choose a sit down restaurant or the Shell station coffee…. and hey…. those glazed old fashions smell good…

 

Maybe not these days, when all the cops I see are millennial babies, and probably bring their own farro bowls, with miso tempeh….

and then stop later for avocado toast and kombucha.

But actual, grown up cops eat doughnuts.

 

Oh… and before you get carried away and let Scooter do your taxes…

Please note.. those people are not as bright as a dog.

Just because they think he got it all right…. just remember, they didn’t know how to do it themselves.

I know for a fact that Scooter made a mistake on my 2017 Form 2106.

Well, I just sat down with a nice cuppa, and here are Nighthawks and StelBel delivering some great hot donuts to me! Talk about great service. Mmmmmmm.

A few months ago they opened a Krispy Kreme within walking distance of where I live.
