If you have put that tough puzzle behind you, you are ready to move on to the latest Cleo and Company,

I don’t remember this one, but it looks like an oldie, before Cleo learned to walk on two legs and talk.

She is just jealous of those squirrels. And she doesn’t have any weapons at her disposal in those days.

Meanwhile, Angela, you have made your point. Now you can enjoy ogling the lifeguards.

Angela, why not duplicate your artwork on Gareth’s other side? Just in case the first one gets trampled.

The squirrels are clearly thumbing their noses at Cleo. And auditioning for the circus.

Those squirrels are taunting Cleo. Their next act will be carrying that evil cat across that wire and dumping something that came out the other end of the cat onto Cleo’s head.

    Ah yes…..

a real oldie, as these strips go…

re-run as the Sept 8th  2019 “CLEO and COMPANY”

Something, as Dennis points out, from the silent Cleo era.

Not only did she lack her future voice and weaponry…. but her appearance was less consistent.

I prefer the way she looks in the newer strips…. but I do like the drawing of her here in panel one.

And those squirrels are mighty fancy.

Meanwhile…. I was reading the last of yesterday’s comments …

    and I thought I’d ask….

Is there anybody who couldn’t see nine differences even after looking at the gif of yesterday’s puzzle?

There were two that I found when solving it, but with the low resolution of my small laptop screen,

had I not already known they were there, I wouldn’t have noticed them in the gif, either.

So if anybody still wants a list, just say so…

and I’ll post one late tomorrow afternoon, after the stragglers have probably solved the puzzle.

Hmm … at first, we assume that Angela, above, on Ballard Beach, is well-acquainted with Harold, who is dozing polka-dottedly….

and no doubt happily unaware of his toothy portrait.

Ah, yes… her husband, we guess, with whom she is a bit disenchanted.

But it occurs to me that Angela may be a serial portraitist….

upset with the men of Ballard Street, or men in general… or even life itself…

and wielding her pointed stick to criticise total strangers.

Oh well, no one has complained….

so not really a concern, at this point, of what I’d like to maintain as the rather laissez-faire BCPD, right?

There was a little town in mountains of Northwest Arkansas whose school mascot was the squirrel. Their school cheer went something like this:

Winslow Squirrels are on the lose!

You don’t watch out they’ll cook your goose!

    Strawberry shortcake, gooseberry pie,

    V … I … C … T … O … R … Y!

We have one of those squirrels. He run all around trying to get into the bird feeder. Can’t do that, so he climbs into the tree and goes as far as his tippy toes lets him to the end of each branch. Still can’t swing onto the feeder. Cleo………………come bark at him.

Wait, maybe we should install a high wire for him from tree to tree. Okay. Nighthawks, you can come and do the honors.
