LOL… I told StelBel a few days ago that this was in this movie that I finally decided Bark Bagle was handsome….
and NO, I didn’t see it in 1935, thank you!
My sister and I used to argue over the relative handsomeness of Bagel and my favorite, Cary Growl…
She was a devoted “Howl with the Wind” fan… I loved that movie,_ but didn’t get the allure of Bagel.
Mind you, I was about 10, and she was 8.
I had no real idea about allure… and I’m sure Bark Bagel didn’t care what schoolgirls thought of his old movies.
Charlie Laughbasset wasn’t a barrel of ha-has in this one, was he?
Evil Captain indeed!
I mean …. leashes, chains, tight collars….
I hear he even used rolled up newspapers on those poor basset sailors.
But we’ll all follow the dashing Bark Bagle…
as he leads the pack in taking over the ship….
and they sail away to settle on Pitcairn Terrier Island.
Where they mated with the wild female dogs….
and their great great great great great great (is that enough?) grandpuppies still live there today!
It’s a place that lives in every dog’s fantasy,
like a giant dog park, far out at sea.
I searched and searched for a copydog human poster… but they were all either gigantic or tiny.
Finally I found one about the right size… and discovered that Tigressy posted one while I was typing..I deleted my post to remove my link… but I’ve decided to put it back, because it’s just a bit bigger….
in case, like me, you wanted to see the humans in the lifeboat.
Interesting Historical Side Note – MUTT-INY was produced by my Great Uncle, Irving G. Tailbarker (he changed his last name to distance himself from the family shame from That Ugly Incident in Belchertown a few years earlier).
I’m glad that Stel ran this poster just for Susan, It’s so well done! Bark Bagle sure is handsome in this film, and really proves his acting abilities. I’m going to have to dust off our DVD and watch it again.

Dream big Norm. Then share your dream with others and get some help to accomplish it. I’ve helped a big dream or two myself.

Norm is having a moment of clarity, and he doesn’t like what he sees.

Love how you caught the personalities of the characters, Stel! (Or is that Nighthawks work?)

An interesting rig Hollywood picked for the Bounty — I don’t think any version (The original and two replicas) ever set upper and lower topsails…

Stel, I replied, hope you see it!
