Boy, Wayne, I had a dream kind of like that the other night. I hate when I invent something in a dream and then realize that, while it might work, it would never work properly in real life.
Gather together, Cleo fans…. come on Olympics fans… basset fans…. and internet wanderers…
(Six feet apart, everybody… thanks….
Good thing about this virtual venue is that you don’t need a mask unless you’re actually standing near someone outside your quarantine “pod”….. in real life.)
Let’s cheer Cleo on, as she tumbles towards another gold…
in the Sept 18th 2020 “CLEO and COMPANY” on Sherpa!
Yes, the cat judges will always be unfair to dogs… especially pudgy, short-legged basset hounds…
And they should NOT be judges at the Bassolympics.
But while we are still in the backyard phase of the Olympics, all pets and small wild neighborhood animals may compete….
And all may be judges.
Except squirrels, of course.
Everybody knows squirrels can’t be judges.
Cleo has great form for a basset, and the cats are instructed to be fair.
But they tend to judge every animal against the lithe grace of their own species…
I can’t say I totally blame them….
When they’re supposed to be comparing Cleo to her own kind.
Have you ever tried to instruct a cat?
At least there are more dogs than cats on the panel…
And Cleo got high marks from them.
Sigh….
Hope it doesn’t take more than a combined score of 5 to win the gold.
A cat would just sit at the starting line licking its – derrière and still get high votes from the dogs since they are used to lick their – youknowwhat and able to compare that, too.
I – and Cleo, I dare say – am on the side of truth and justice. And I must part company with Farside99 as to the permissibility of feline judges. Cleo and the dog judges should administer a serious beat-down to those cat judges.
I never tire of Cleo’s performances, whether they are new or not. Thanks for keeping us informed, Nighthawks. I’ll be the optimist and say C&C will still be around!
So, now there are three evil cats who will do anything to defeat Cleo. I’m almost done reading all the past Sherpa cartoons. I’m worried that they are going to delete Sherpa a lot sooner than the end of the year.
That way lies madness. Unfortunately, in the other way lies madness, as well. I only have one regret in life: when my boss asked me, 15 years ago, how much I wanted in wages I should have said $25/hr instead of $20. :)

Uh oh, move away from the keyboard, Wayne. Relax, pet your dog. This momentary lack of clarity will pass.

Great landing Cleo!

Well, Cleo, you have to admit, cats can be pretty agile. No wonder they are tough judges (and of course not biased at all).

They were more generous than those Russian judges, but I’m anxious to get back to regular programming.

We are going to get more rain today along the coast. Unfortunately, it’s going to come with some thunderstorms.
Lightning we can do without.

sorry I’m repeating this so soon, but I wanted to run the ‘Cleo goes for the gold’ series in its entirety …..I just wasn’t
planning on running these THIS year , with the hopeful assumption that there would BE a next year for sherpa.
nope, I have no advance knowledge of anything coming down the pike, I just am my usual pessimistic self when it
comes to gocomics doing the honorable thing and standing by their word.

I’d have to give Cleo high marks. A great presentation and something that I probably wouldn’t survive if I tried it.
