It looks as if one of Cleo’s ancestors has been busted hitting the jug on some past occasion, in pilgrim times. He looks pretty well fed, to me. Might help to explain why he has descendants.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! One of the things I’m thankful for is this wonderful community on Ballard Street and Cleo. You always bring a smile to my day.
I can’t thank all of you creative people for adding a touch of silliness to my day! We are truly a family!
As for Stel’s NEW creation…..How many times I’ve seen exactly this scene growing up. Now, someone is always pouring the wine earlier and at all our gatherings.

Hmm. Like all humor, it’s funny when it happens to someone else.

For Thanksgiving, StelBel has prepared a special treat. A brand new version of the famous Basset New Yorker image:

Roger probably has a pinched nerve somewhere. Carpal tunnel, tendonitis, cervical spine…or maybe he just drinks a lot.

Hmmm… Were they in a lockdown back in Pilgrim days too? Maybe Stel has a time machine.

Happy Thanksgiving! … to my Cleo pals and to internet travelers…
and a happy day, as well, to those of you who live where today is not a holiday …
with thanks to all of you for being here!
We’re being treated to a great NEW poster today, by StelBel…
for the the Nov 26th 2020 “CLEO and COMPANY” on Sherpa!
Looks like someone… Puritan or not…. knows exactly what it’s going to take to get him through this blessed gathering.
If Cousin William is going to recite every Scripture quote from the last 4 Sunday meetings…
and Cousin Henrietta refuses to sit next to Goody Morrison…and Brother Hamilton is going to complain about the sinful color of Brother Frederick’s new garb…
And Goody Edwards will bring those @#$!-nable preserved turnips of hers….
Surely the Lord will forgive a man a small dose of Holy water to keep his thoughts from becoming unholy.
And make him truly grateful for the heaven sent kibble he receives.
I know the humans at some point started to publish a magazine similar to the “New Yorker Basset”…
so I wondered whether it came early enough for them to have tried to recreate Stel’s lovely cover.
Well… you need not wonder… I have found that it did… and that they made their usual inept attempt.
Humans are such copydogs!
Why must they mimic our StelBel?
You can see that they even tried to give this poor human the ears of a basset hound!
How silly is that??

Blessed Thanksgiving, Ballardeers! Q Date: 258.98503.57 and the smoker is warming up.
The struggle is real, Roger. Sometimes I think Mr. Van A was predicting my future 10 years ago. sigh
I see in today’s super magazine cover that this Pilgrim family head has a personalized wine bottle. A little nip won’t hurt.
May your turkey be plump.
May your mashed potatoes and gravy have never a lump.
May your pies take the prize.
And may your Thanksgiving dinner stay off of your thighs.
(((((HUGS all around!)))))
