O.K. Fenton, I’d like my usual nightcap, a RedBreast Irish neat and set everyone else up when they come in. I’ve got to conduct a surprise inspection on my galleon, The Irish Rover, so it’s off to my berth early tonight.
No one on Ballard Street likes to criticise anyone else’s hobbies.Marcia even hates to shush people…even though it’s a library, she really believes in free expression. But she’s beginning to think perhaps Bevin needs to take it down a notch.
Here you made such a big deal about giving me top secret security clearance, then you go and reveal all! No one is supposed to know about the EIDs (/Extremely Intrusive Drones) on Ballard St.!!!
Yes Happy! I had lots of Bradbury in our shared library down in my parents basement. That was a favorite meeting place of my Chess and SciFi club in my HS days. Those guys were all my pals ( and very different from the construction workers who I dated back then ).
OH I HAVE TO TELL YOU GUYS THIS STORY! I went to Lowe’s today to buy garden, potting, and top soil. As I was going through the isles, there was this girl watering the plants, and a bird flying close by overhead. She said to me, “Look at this! I just hosed down a nest of birds. They are in there. Lift that branch and see.” They were in a small pot containing a Yew shrub. Three little baby birds, chirping away. I told her she should move them to somewhere safe until they could leave the nest. I hope she did. But she didn’t seem too bright, no offense, so I don’t know if she did or not.. And now that I think about it, I wish I had called the manager’s attention to it. I hope they are okay! It was SO cute. And if they weren’t moved, can you imagine the SHOCK and AWE of someone who bought that plant and got it home? LOL!
There are bird’s nests all over our plant, including the gate to/from the parking lot. Birds are swooping down every time we approach the gate. The nest is so low there, you can almost see into the nest. Why would they build a nest in such a high traffic area?
Well it’s been interesting to see all your takes on this, but now I must reveal that I have a sneaking suspicion that this guy’s name is Arthur. Let me give you a peek into his Crazy World
Regarding the Inferno, There were recently some links to a piece by my favorite director (favorite partly because he was so unappreciated in his lifetime). Ken Russell’s Dante’s Inferno
And regarding birds nests in dangerous places. These starlings raised 2 consecutive broods in spite of the fact that they are passing through the nest of some red-tailed hawks (that I was watching). While the 3rd hawk nestling was waiting her time to fly, she pounced on one unfortunate young starling Here These 3 young hawks are now all hunting around the college campus with some help from parents “Big Red” and “Ezra”.
About bedtime for me again. It’s been a busy day. I’ll have a (virtual) Kahlua and Presidente, thanks, Fenton. Make it a double as I’ll finish it in the tub. (Have to mention that the liquor stays in BS so some here don’t assume I’m breaking my diet). ;-D
Two of my sons are great dads (the other would be too, but his wife had her family first and the teen kids were . . . fogeddabodit!) I’ll be calling my lover who is also a great dad (we both had teens when we met) and the two sons.
What amazes me in a very positive way, is although I am separated from my kids by very long distance, dubious postal delivery, and spotty phone communications , they managed to send me e-card Father’s Day cards. That beats a necktie ( which I gave up wearing years ago ) anytime !Of course I had to laugh, my daughter and grandson both sent me the same funny card without realizing the other had done so. Great minds run in the same gutter ( or something like that).Have a Happy Father’s Day Ballardeers !
I just came across one that I think many of the fathers (and mothers) among us here might like was the greeting on another site. and for the music TRY THIS
I saw that one over at The Daily Ink,Dazz. I loved it, though I don’t think my Dad & I could find middle ground in music. He liked mostly classical. My Mom’s musical tastes, on the other hand, were at least in the 20th century.
Susan, do we females have two XX or XY? I thought that it’s our chromosomes that determine whether the baby grows up a mother or a father. ….I’m confused now…but at least I do know that I’m not a father, so
Chet, here’s my advice, given the balloon incident this Thursday, and the pledge before the judge. Please find some stable friends, people in control not looking for control. Visit with them, be their friend and remember you can’t get help without an honest disclosure. We have spoken before, listen to me now, honest disclosure, means open and truthful. Chet, help me help you. You are headed to melt down, don’t go there. There’s no bowling, no garden club, no soft ice cream, no garage and no snacking. Yes we love you. Love you living on the edge, but other people don’t get it. If the sixties taught you anything, remember, if you live this high, for that long, the man will find you.

Nevin was returning an overdue book: Pyromania for Dummies. He’s a slow starter but once he catches on, he’s a ball of fire.
