The last time I think, I even heard the word mentioned, was when I was staying in an attic flat that had dormer windows.

What are they called if they’re on Dorms? (I can imagine Stephen Wright asking that one)

O.K. for all you interested ( or not ) in the etymology of the word.

dormer (n.)1590s, originally “window of a sleeping room,” from Middle French dormeor “sleeping room,” from dormir “to sleep”dormer

    Look up dormer at Dictionary.com

@mistI didn’t get home until the auction was over.I don’t think it would have made a difference. They have an “Auto Bid” option in place. You can tell the auction site what your max bid is and the computer will automatically raise the bid for you until it reaches your max.We will never know what his max bid was.

Dogsniff said, about 21 hours agoMy builder gave me a free dormer. He said it was on the house._______________

When he built the dog house, he said, “Roof! Roof!” That’s because that’s where Snoopy’s dormer is…

@ susanSee my reply at Ten Cats. I am the one who used the term TIA for a “small stroke” I saw you post about the small stroke, and thought it was the same thing. Sorry for the confusion.
