Nelson is not clear on the concept of tomato paste.

Mrs. Higglepooder has taken offence to Nelson and his dislike for shopping. Mrs. Higglepooder is a Class A. Certified Shopper. She graduated from the Ballard Shopping School and Tooth Extraction Academy.

I saw a pretty tube of that at Cost Plus,.but I wasn’t sure what it was for…

Is it for repairing torn tomatoes?

I am accustomed to doing the grocery shopping solo. One of my ( silent ) peeves is having my First Mate accompany me to the supermarket.

She is a compulsive shopper ! While I make a list and stick to it and know within a few dollars how much I am going to spend, she buys what looks good or something she’s never tried, or things we’ll need sometime in the future etc.etc.

Although she’s extremely frugal and a savvy shopper and haggler in the other stores and open markets, there’s something about the supermarket that changes all that.

Also, a trip that usually would take me 30 minutes ( and I’m a comparison shopper ) in the store turns into 90 , with herself in tow.

But…I love her and she enjoys shopping with me so…There will be No dust-ups in the produce department for us.( Besides, we don’t usually buy our produce in the supermarket ).

I HATE shopping. Food shopping is the only kind of shopping I can stand to do, mainly because if I don’t do it, I don’t eat. And I LOVE to eat. Cooking is fine, though I am no gourmet chef. And I don’t bake. My mom was an outstanding baker. She used to make custom cakes for friends as a sort of sideline out of the house. Wedding cakes, birthday cakes, etc. She made and colored her own frosting, and hand decorated each one with a syringe and a variety of detachable tips therefor. Also made great pies, with handmade crusts. My sister got that gene. My brother and I, not so much.

Shop early.I usually get there when they are still stocking shelves because I’m also shopping for a client at the time.

My husband likes to go up and down every aisle and read labels. Me, I want to get what I need and get out of there. It might make it more interesting if I took Nelson’s tactic.

One of the advantages of living in a cornucopia growing area, is the availability of fresh produce, fish, meat and poultry. We shop the open markets daily and/or weekly, depending on our needs. We can ( an do ) provide fresh vegetables, fruits, and rice for two families of 2 adults and 2 children each, 2 addition special needs adults, and ourselves for around $20 a week. You can’t do that at the supermarket. Plus, shopping in the “Mercados” ( open air markets ) can be a real interesting adventure.

I’m glad you cleared that up. For a minute there, I thought it was a picture of one of my ex-mothers-in-law (I’ve had a few ) – not a Higglepooder or a Higgenpooder !

GoComics became a haven from the harshness of my everyday life.As pop got sicker, and mom became more dependent on me, and my last job (boss) became harder to live with, this place saved me.Im here because of the fun i find, when my “real” life becomes burdensome, and demanding. The people here help me stay Happy, even when I’m not.
