Lois, you need to get out more. But then, given the men of Ballard Street – maybe you are making a good choice. ’’I like the coat and tie but he needs some nice trousers...Or maybe this is more typical of the neighborhood:
I would be glad to measure Mr. Stephens to complete his outfit.
Actually, Dog…. a dresser… and he’s quite a snappy one.
Rose…. yes… but why do you think he’s so formal with Lois? Or is it her idea not to call him by his first name?
I’m a bit worried about her, you know. I knew she’d been pining for Richard.None of us thought he would leaf us so soon.
It goes against my grain to gossip….(cough)… no, really…but wooden you think she could do better than a table? I mean, she can spruce up Mr. Stephens… but he’ll never be branch manager at the bank, like Richard…and he’ll never have Richard’s polish.
I don’t know where you heard that, but in California, AFAIK, Republicans can’t vote for Bernie Sanders this June. Only Democrats and unaffiliated voters may vote in the Democratic primary this time. However, you have ONE MORE DAY… tomorrow, May 23rd, to go to your county elections office by 5 pm, in person, to change your party affiliation. The deadline to do it by mail was two days ago, on Friday, to allow time for processing… and the deadline for unaffiliated voters to ask for a Democratic ballot by mail was earlier.
Otherwise, Democrats get a Democratic ballot at the polls or in the mail, and unaffiliated voters can just ask for one, but only if they vote in person at their assigned polling place. Republicans get a Republican ballot. California has an open primary ballot for other offices, but not for choosing presidential candidates. Each party can select which, if any, other parties are allowed to vote on their ballot in any particular primary election… and this time the Democrats chose not to allow voters with other affiliations.

Mr. Stevens is the perfect gentleman. He never asks for anything and really loves being dusted.

Mr. Stephens is the table, Lois is the dresser.

It seems to me the most relevant question is whether Lois is, or regards herself as, Mrs. Stephens.

Not everyone on Ballard Street is crazy, but those who are make up for those who aren’t.

At least we won’t be catching him smoking on the veranda. Unless someone sets fire to him.

Lois dressed up other furniture so she could be committed— er, they could be a committee. Mr. Lane is the chairman.
