If I’m forced to upgrade to Windows 10, I might migrate to Apple.

WildeBill, try Linux first. And stay away from Win10 whatever.

Ospreys are sometimes forced to cange platforms. They don’t like it either.

There was a time when I could dance all night in vintage platforms….

But alas, I’ve had to migrate far, far away.

As for Windows 10… a few weeks into it, it’s pretty much like every other Windows.I liked Windows 7 better…and yeah, it’s maddening that they don’t make each new version backwards compatible with all your software and devices….

But then again, you don’t expect all the replacement car parts at Pep Boys to fit your 54 Chevy…at some point, things change…just a lot faster in the tech world. If you like using Windows, or at least feel moderately comfortable with it, I see no reason to handicap yourself by switching to an entirely unfamiliar platform.

Your current software is even LESS likely to be compatible with Linux or Apple…and the learning curve will be far longer. especially if you’re not tech-y..

If you think Microsoft controls too much on a Win 10 computer…. well, meet Apple.

And if anybody tries to get you to switch to these platforms….

    Run while you can!

How to avoid the forced download of Windows 10: When you see the dialogue box that asks if you accept the terms and conditions, click “NO.”

Finally switched to Windows 10. There are a few things I don’t like, but overall, it’s about the same as the Windows I had before. Sometimes yo just have to go with “progress”.

I agree that their “switch now” pop-ups were annoying and became downright deceptive, which P****d me foo no end.

I’ve had Windows 10 since it’s Beta phase. I have had very few problems with it and am comfortable navigating – much easier than Windows 7 ( which I detested ).

I have not experienced the constant interruptions for updates that were the norm on earlier platforms.

I’m by no means a techno, but started using computers back in the green screen DOS days, so I am comfortable with Microsoft.

I tried Apple a couple of times, over the years and just don’t like it. To each his own !

I like Google Chrome for everyday use but prefer Tor for writing, research, and important business.

I said NO, I said NO Thanks, I said Not On Your Life………..Then one morning I sat down and my computer, who always liked me (I thought), was in the middle of upgrading to 10. Nothing to do but sit there and curse.

It’s not so bad, you can get used to anything. I wish I could get used to getting old, but that’s another story……..

I still say Windows XP was Microsoft’s best. Everything since has been downhill. (No wonder they abandoned XP, how else can you sell inferior garbage?)

There are some cultures in East Africa (mostly rural herders) where there is a close association between women and cattle. You know if you have to pay 100 cattle to get a wife, the burn never heals. Among the Hamer in SW Ethiopia, when I was there in 1974, women wore cowhides with bell-like rings and tails down the back. That appears to have changed, .But the women still have the best hair tradition.
