Isn’t there some biblical, or at least religious, text about “Lead them not into Temptation ….”? You can’t place the opportunity for immediate gratification in front of a dog and not expect Rusty Boy to carpe diem!
Mom trained our family dog when I was around 7 years old not to beg in the kitchen or the dining room. I can’t remember how she did it. But he would totally leave you alone if you had food within those two rooms. OUTSIDE those rooms, you were fair game. And it looks to me as if Roger & Rusty Boy are in neither the dining room nor the kitchen. At some point, you have to just accept that your dog is going to act like a dog. What you hope to do is limit that behavior to certain circumstances.

Hey I climbed out of a snow bank to get here…….Portland declared a State of Emergency because we got 10 inches of snow.
Meanwhile Portland Maine got 23 inches of snow and it’s business as usual.

It’s all Roger’s fault. He looked away for a micro-second.
