Well, Hortense, there is your hair for one… getting it up there is no small feat. I mean the spraying alone….

But Hortense, you did it YOUR way. And you may not realize it now, but you have acquired a very early Mme. Deuxcouleur that will explode in value in coming years.

Take what ever victories you can get.

Regrets? You’ve apparently had a few. And victories? Too few to mention. (apologies to Paul Anka and Ol’ Blue Eyes.)

Not only is your hair a miracle of modern engineering… with only a little help from my salon on Thursdays…

but look at your home.

Ever so tidy, and perfectly appointed…

You are lucky enough to live in a 2002 Sunday home…

at a time when most of your neighbor’s homes are only pictured in black and white.

In a few more years, there will be no more Sunday houses at all… and eventually, everyone’s homes will be blandly colored by the cartoon publishing syndicate.

So you and Charles had the good taste to purchase a rare original, which you can show off with pride.

There were the many battles of the toothpaste cap, and the great over under debate of the toilet roll, where finally, through great effort, you emerged victorious.

I’d go back to bed.. perhaps tomorrow you will wake up thinking positive.

Watch out, Charles, she’s looking for a big victory… ☺

Small victories in a sea of disasters are a good thing, and they often lead to bigger victories. Stay strong, Ballard Street lady. Stay strong!

I hope it’s the sun outside and she’s not watching the neighbor’s house she set on fire.
