Nothing like a double business in a rural town. Like my great-grandfather in Safford, Arizona, who had a pharmacy AND a soda fountain.

At one time 99% of drug stores did have a soda fountain/ice cream counter. Rural or city.

Many department stores and Five & Dime’s had a restaurant , too. (Penney’s, Sears, Woolworth’s etc.)

And ALL the Woolworth’s smelled alike - it was great! :D

And the upscale department stores had actual rest rooms. For ladies anyway. Separate rooms for the “facilities” and the lounge. Spacious. Gracious.

How about furniture stores & funeral parlors? Same people made the caskets and the furniture.
