Hill Street Blues was filmed in LA too–although some footage, including the credits, came from Chicago. The police cars were Chicago-esque, although with “Metro” rather than “Chicago” on their sides.
When you’re here in New York, constantly trying to steer your way through the river of humanity as it squishes past the Law&Order and movie filmings all over the place, it’s hard to feel grateful that they make the thing on location.
It is funny, though, to look at the tiny attache cases the “lawyers” in their latest Milan fashion suits are carrying on the near-empty courthouse steps. No one would mistake them for actual lawyers, or the scene for a real one, for a nanosecond. There’s always a silver lining, and those bits of amusement are it.

I’ve been to NYC. Been there and haven’t gone back since ‘98 (family summer road trip across the USA).
