I think a couple of folks are wrong about Chuck here. Yes, he is still devoted to Marie and missing her, but mostly he has nobody else he can be that honest with.
Who else can he be the “sensitive guy” with? There may be nobody unless and until he feels freed to remarry. And he may need to know a new woman well enough to trust her deeply before he can start feel that freed. (Even then, he’ll still cherish Marie also.)
