I don’t text my daughter while she’s in school but from time to time she texts me. Usually it’s “I don’t feel well, can you please pick me up?” To which I almost always say no.
Mine were in college when texting “happened”. They would periodically text their status but most often requested money. To which I almost always said no!

On the other hand texting has probably replaced kids passing notes to each other. ☺
