I always thought the people that are offended with the protests are a little sad. Lack of empathy to the protests, almost all do not stand at home, thinking forced patriotism is a good thing, and thinking religion should be everywhere as long as it is their faith and no one else’s or the lack there of.
“Anthem protests” is a misrepresentation, or misunderstanding. No-one is protesting the national anthem, though a little research into the writer of the lyrics would certainly suggest good reason to do so. It’s not about the flag, nor the military, nor the anthem. It’s about law enforcement applying unnecessary force to the level of unjustifiable deadly force, against minorities. Simple, sadly misunderstood, and too often deliberately falsely described (ala the POTUS, among many).
Kneeling to show solidarity with other Black Americans targeted by police all over the country was the reason. The deflection was saying it was protesting the National Anthem. Trying to muddle their gentle message about police racial barbarities. Reich Wingers supporting Reich Wingers in police forces against Black Americans.
