The state has made an exemption for people 75 years of age and older. People that are medicated, having trouble driving, and working smartphones should not be making jury decisions.
Granted, I’ve never heard of a CEO or celebrity serving on a jury. It seems risky. I mean, other jurors might defer to him. Or oppose his position out of sheer spite.
I keep hoping for jury duty but they won’t enpanel you if you have a degree in a hard science. Too analytical, the lawyers want people they can appeal to their emotions.
I find it amazing, but I have not been called for jury duty in all of my 75 years! I would have gone if called. I would not have tried to get out of it. I certainly wouldn’t have said, “Bring the guilty party in and let’s get on with it” or “The police would not have locked them up if they weren’t guilty”. lol Either one would have worked, but I would have served if called.

All you gotta do is show up once & say you believe in mandatory minimum sentences, they won’t pick you!

Jury duty is one of the few times a person is called in to directly participate in a government function. It is one of the duties of a free society.

So it would be dangerous to only have rich people on the jury for rich person, and actors/actresses for thespians on trial as in "jury of your peers.
