National cartoonist are honoring frontline workers in the Covid-19 pandemic today by embedding symbols in their strips that represent medical personnel, truck drivers, grocery and food service workers, scientists, farm workers.
Of all the comics participating in the essential workers challenge, this is by far the worst implementation. It’s all over the place and bites off more than it can chew.
I have followed this comic for quite a while but never wrote a comment until now. As an essential worker, in the ER (I actually read this in between patients) and in teaching, I would like to thank you and all of the cartoonists who took part in the National Cartoonists Society challenge to use the symbols in their comics today (well, yesterday, since I’m writing this on Monday).

At that point, we’ll be 89 octane unleaded gasohol. (Yes, I know. I know. It’s a comic strip, not a geology course.)
